Convention Deputies elected

Delegates to the 28th Annual Convention of the Diocese
of Western Louisiana elected the Clergy and Lay Deputies who
will represent the diocese at the next General Convention
of The Episcopal Church, to be held in 2009. Balloting took
place Saturday morning, October 13.
All the candidates participated in a candidates'
forum held after the Friday night Convention Dinner. Moderator,
the Honorable D. Dee Drell, asked questions suggested by convention
delegates earlier in the day.
Those elected include: Clergy Deputies,
the Rev'd Dr. Wayne E. Carter, rector of St. John's, Minden;
the Rev'd Dr. Peter J. A. Cook, rector of St. Michael & All Angels,
Lake Charles; the Rev'd Canon Gregg L. Riley, rector of Grace Church, Monroe,
and the Rev'd Guido Verbeck, III, rector of St. Paul's, Shreveport.
The Rev'd Catherine Thompson, rector of
Trinity, Natchitoches, was elected First Alternate.
Lay Deputies include: Dr.
Cheryl White, St.
Paul's, Shreveport; John H. Robert, St. Timothy's, Alexandria; Bradley
L. Drell, St. James, Alexandria, and Don Palombo, Holy Trinity,
Sulphur.
Lay Alternates elected include: First Alternate
Reece Middleton, Holy Cross, Shreveport; Second Alternate
Pendleton Tompkins, Epiphany, New Iberia, and Third Alternate
Daniel Cutler, St. Timothy's, Alexandria.
